As a seasoned veteran of the FBI, Mike specialized in the field of National Security. He has conducted and supervised both national security and criminal investigations and has testified in several high profile cases. His tenure with the FBI has included assignments in Oklahoma City, New York City and Buffalo, NY. Special assignments include Kansas City, Puerto Rico, Juneau, AK, and Inyokern, CA - which is home to the Naval Air Weapons Station; China Lake.
While Mike’s career with the FBI has spanned the scope of investigations from bank robberies and fugitives to white collar crime, the majority of his work has been in the field of National Security, which encompassed Domestic and International Terrorism as well as Foreign Counterintelligence. As a member of the FBI’s Special Operations Group, Mike coordinated the evidence recovery as well as the surveillance needs of the New York City Division in the aftermath of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. While in the Buffalo office, he served as Case Agent for the 1994 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and co-Case Agent to the September 11, 2001 bombing of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Mike served as a senior consultant to the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Program at FBI Headquarters in Washington DC, advising the FBI’s Foreign Counterintelligence and National Security Unit. As Training Coordinator, he was responsible for the training of select Canadian and International law enforcement leaders at the FBI National Academy. In addition to serving as Undercover Coordinator, Mike was a member of the Crisis Negotiating Team and a certified FBI Polygraph Examiner.
Born in Brussels, Belgium, Mike is fluent in Russian, Polish and Ukrainian. He has studied German, Czechoslovakian and Latin. He is a graduate of Canisius College, a Jesuit institution in western New York. He is an honors society member of both Canisius and the State University of New York. He completed graduate work at Canisius, Rutgers, the State University of New York and the University of Delaware. As an adjunct professor, Mike taught Criminal law at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors during his distinguished service to the United States and the Department of Justice. He continues to serve several professional, charitable and fraternal organizations including the boards of the Family Justice Center and the Mental Health Association, both located in Western New York.
Mike has been interviewed by numerous TV networks and radio stations on the topics of Deception Detection (lying), Non-Verbal Behavior, Body Language and Behavioral Assessment. He appeared in the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) documentary (WNED-TV), entitled; “Investigating the New FBI”. Mike has also been interviewed on True Crime documentaries related to the 1994 Oklahoma City bombing by both HBO and the BBC.
